It is clear to me now that I have been blessed in so many ways: Good health and the opportunity to pursue a life thats truly my own. I spent many years looking around and being bitter about this or that, feeling as if the world owed me something. I can now appreciate the truth: that it most certainly does not.
Once I realized this I began to look around with fresh eyes at a whole new world. A wonderful world I did nothing but inherit; solely being born into this body. I can now appreciate every passing moment with more vigor, taking every breath with gratitude. I can better appreciate the new people who come into my life, those who merely pass through it, and especially those who have been there all along. I can better appreciate the material conveniences at my disposal, accepting that everything I own is I fact a gift. This level of thinking has allowed me to redefine what I consider to be "a life worth living."
I know that the world has its troubles and challenges, I for one, have come to understand the struggle for basic necessities so many people must endure. But as I gain the skills and knowledge to combat these plights, I find happiness in being grateful for the things I do have. To appreciate the little things and see them for what they are - wonderful or worldly, unique or ubiquitous. All things that serve a greater purpose are worthy of praise.
