We got hooked up with a nights stay at the public use cabin in Holgate Arm so a few of us took off after lunch to see what it was all about. These cabins are open to the public and available for reservation, maintained by the national park service. The cabin is perfect for its location; six bunks and a table - what else do you need when wilderness and glaciers are right outside.
We set out for a perfect day of paddling, sunny and calm then a little bit of sea state added to the fun; Crashing over waves before rounding Holgate head and into calmer waters. All in all it was about an hour and a half of solid paddling, not bad at all! Once at the cabin we met up with others and shared a meal. Lucky for us, our wonderful lodge cook was along and suddenly a delicious feast appeared seemingly out of nowhere. We lit a up a fire, told jokes, shared stories and everything else you would expect from such a pleasant night out on the bay.
